Finding Inspiration

by Sherri Goldman, Administrative and Finance DirectorSherri Goldman

in·spi·ra·tion – the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something; the drawing in of breath; inhalation.

I read a list just recently of some of the most inspirational and awe-inspiring places to visit in the world. It was an impressive list; the Western Wall, Taj Mahal, Grand Canyon, etc. The connection between all these places to me is their ability to change your perspective about life when you visit them. It might be due to their stunning national beauty, or having years of thought provoking history, but we think and feel differently when we experience them.

Inspiration is that ah ha moment of creativity, of creation; that moment of genius. Inspiration has the power to transform us and change our perspective on life. Inspiration gives us courage; it gives us passion.  I think we all need to be inspired by something or someone.

There are countless ways to find inspiration. A few of my favorites:

–          Watching the waves on the beach
–          Reading an autobiography about someone who has made a difference in the world
–          Listening to music that moves you
–          Spending time with my family
–          Volunteering in my community
–          Being at Mayyim Hayyim

When you immerse in the water you hold your breath. Then you breathe, the definition of inspiration. Mayyim Hayyim provides a place to breathe. In the water, the art gallery, the outside garden space, anywhere here – even in the offices upstairs. Mayyim Hayyim is a unique sacred space where anything you hope for is possible, whether you come here for traditional reasons, or non-traditional. Whether you come here to learn, pray, be with family and friends, or work. Mayyim Hayyim’s space has the capacity to transform us to something new and different. Mayyim Hayyim is a place to be motivated to be inspired.

I’m inspired daily at Mayyim Hayyim by:

–          The beauty of the space (including my office)
–          My co-workers
–          Our volunteers
–          Strong Independent Women (there’s a lot of them here)
–          My work
–          The unending generosity of our donors
–          The  mission and principles of Mayyim Hayyim

Where do you turn to when you need inspiration?  What inspires you about Mayyim Hayyim?

What inspires me? Insightful observations, like yours.

  2. The feminine power at the center of the earth, underneath these craggy Galilee rocks. The water at the center of the earth is magnetic.
