The Summer Whirlwind

by Lori Kramer, Office Manager

Just when I think I have a handle on the logistics of my big family… the school year ends and summer begins.

We have to take stock and make sure everyone is getting everywhere they need to be, when they need to be there, with all the things they need for whatever it is they are doing. It’s a lot to keep track of. It has definitely been a season of big change around my house.

My oldest got his driver’s license. My younger son started a brand new camp after going to the same camp for almost 10 years. My older daughter is working at our shop all summer, and my little one will be going to day-camp for the whole summer for the first time on a bus (which she considers most important since she does not get to take a bus to school).

As I look forward to the next school year, I am so overwhelmed. I will have two seniors in high school, a sophomore, and a little one entering her second year of the lower elementary Montessori cycle. It goes so amazingly fast.

Thankfully, we are lucky enough to have a place in our community where we can stop to breathe – to appreciate, to prepare, and to mark these seemingly-small-yet-truly-meaningful transitions in our kids’ lives.

Whether your children are losing their baby teeth, starting a new summer camp, becoming a sibling, or entering high school, etc., an immersion at Mayyim Hayyim can provide the necessary time and space to be present and oh-so-grateful for these exciting moments.

“In gratitude I come today to celebrate the blessings in my life.
I honor those who have helped me along the way and give thanks
for their supportive presence.”
